We are seeking a Firmware Test Engineer in Boise, ID. The FW Test Engineer will participate in a team environment developing, integrating, and executing test plans for print device FW components.  This position performs non-complex test design and development tasks on firmware projects including test automation.  This position requires independent judgment in planning test strategy, determining necessary testing needed and analyzing results.  This position also requires coordinating activities with other test personnel and test execution vendors.  This position will be expected to operate under general supervision. 

Responsibilities

  • Test automation development (Perl, Python, etc.)
  • To assist in FW Test automation
  • To work with FW Engineers to understand specific FW components and their test design
  • To implement automated tests to replace manual tests being used currently using hooks/infrastructure available in the FW and Test Automation Library
  • Outline acceptance criteria for areas of responsibility
  • Participate in implementing process improvement efforts within R & D team
  • Help to identify and define usability improvements for better customer experience
  • Manage local project documentation
  • Provide estimations of time and resources needed to execute tests
  • Reproduce defects and collect data to help developers solve issues
  • Manage defect-tracking system screening
  • Communicate bug descriptions, steps required to reproduce, and user impact to a variety of audiences
  • Review functional and design documents with test coordinators as well as development and product management teams
  • Validate fixes to verified defects
  • Design feature qualification plans from feature development plans

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Scripting experience (Python, Perl, Korn-Shell, etc.)
  • 2+ years development experience
  • Experience writing automated tests
  • Highly-skilled, self-starter
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work alone and in a team environment

Desired:

  • Past Experience with LaserJet FW or SW Development
