    Job Summary

    We are looking for an HR Benefits Specialist who is self-motivated and  a great team player. You are flexible and thrive well in an ambiguous environment, yet have a track record of completing projects on time.  In this role, you will work as part of a dynamic team with Human Resources, Benefit Brokers, Payroll and the Accounting department as related to Employee Benefits and general HR facets.

    Responsibilities

     

    Benefits Administration

    • Coordinate/manage employees going on leave. Should be familiar with federal and multi state labor leave laws, with an emphasis on CA.
    • Process claims or requests (FMLA/CFRA, SDI, LTD, W/C)
    • Manage the benefit plan renewal process and serve as contact for brokers, plan vendors and internal partners
    • Point of contact for employees with benefit questions
    • Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations.
    • Driving and supporting the bid process
    • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and feeds
    • Handle all benefit compensation and reimbursement procedures
    • Handle New Hire benefit enrollments, determine employee eligibility, COBRA, terminations, changes, disability claims, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, and compliance testing. 
    • Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings.
    • Prepare, collect and organize data for actuarial assessments, and review data in conjunction with actuarial evaluation task forces.
    • Collaborate with accounting department for payments and deductions
    • Manages open enrollment within HRIS and works with payroll to ensure codes are correct on an annual basis

     

    General HR support

    • Keep employee records updated with all relevant information (marital status, years of service, hours worked etc.)
    • May support regular analysis and calibrations of compensation structure
    • Respond to reference checks and requests for employment verifications
    • Update SharePoint as necessary with employee data
    • Back-up to onboarding of employees
    • Answer general HR inquiries
    • Prepare correspondence and reports as needed
    • Will support audit requests and other reporting requests by running reports out of Excel. Helps maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

     

    Skills and Qualifications

    • 5+ years general Human Resources experience
    • 3+ years employee Benefits administration experience (Understanding of different benefit plans and relevant regulations)
    • Experience working with compensation structures, preferred
    • Working knowledge of multi-state FMLA/CFRA, SDI, LTD, W/C
    • Experience with a benefits software or 3rd party software that administers health benefits
    • Proficient in MS Office. Must have strong Excel knowledge
    • Understanding of data recording and analysis
    • Familiarity with ACA reporting
    • Excellent organization skills and strong interpersonal skills
