  • Overview

    We are looking for an experienced Firmware Test Engineer (Duration) to join our team in Boise to support one of our largest clients in the area - Hewlett Packard. In this role you will be part of the Firmware (FW) Team at HP, a team that executes a series of duration tests throughout our projects to check the quality of our FW code. The purpose of the duration tests is to verify the FW functionality over time by printing, copying, and faxing continuously. In this role as a duration test engineer, you will be responsible for running duration tests as requested by the Firmware Test Team, reporting results and logging issues.

     

    This is a full-time, long term benefited position with competitive compensation. Please note that only local candidates will be considered at this time.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Execute duration tests as defined by the FW Duration lead. Meet daily page goals as defined by the program
    • Summarize the test results in email
    • Triage of issues found during the tests including pulling FW traces or producing other documentation to assist firmware engineers in resolving issues
    • Creation of defects in ALM or Jira (HP Internal defect reporting tools)
    • Review duration results in duration reporting tools and identify trends or areas of concern and raise them to the FW team.
    • Assigning issues to firmware engineers for resolution
    • Ensure test hardware and other equipment is in working order and work with FW team to request new equipment as needed

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or similar
    • 2+ years of relevant experience, ideally a testing background
    • Software skills with application to testing (i.e. defect management tools) is a plus
    • Ability to manage work by required deadlines, often with very short turn-around time
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple issues, tasks, and priorities at the same time
