    Shift Lead – DET Test Lab – HP-Vancouver

     

    General Expectations:

    The Shift Lead is expected to supervise & manage all staff, CORE & FLEX, on a specific shift.  The Shift Lead will manage all personnel administration, time cards, job assignments, scheduling, mentoring, cross-training and corrective action.  Generally responsible for the DET test operation’s efficiency and delivery.  The Shift Lead will serve as the single point of contact for internal/external operational, communication and emergency issues on their assigned shift.

     

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Excellent communication in English, both in written and oral, and follow instructions.
    • Make decision on staffing assignment to ensure training of Operator 1’s, Operator 3’s, Tester-1’s, and Process Tech-II’s.
    • Supervisory leadership role for all lower scoped personnel in the DET test labs, and when requested, customer’s R&D test labs and design offices, and offsite work areas.
    • Exhibits team leadership/supervisory skills and attributes. Manages & monitors day-to-day operations of their shift.
    • Collaborate, coordinate & facilitate with the Test Engineers and R&D/Quality test owners to ensure adequate staffing of DET test requests.
    • Attends meetings to update the Test Engineers regarding progress on specific DET test requests.
    • Provides reports to the Site Ops Manager, issues and trends related to the team progress and performance.
    • Coordinate, prioritize and manage requested special projects and provide management reports as requested.
    • Investigate and solve all personnel issues and conflicts within assigned area.
    • Monitor and provide regular feedback to area employees on their work performance, including disciplinary action.
    • Establish proper personnel levels for DET product development test requests.
    • Maintain excellent documentation for all personnel issues.
    • Inform the Site Operations Manager of any administrative issues.
    • Inform the Test Engineer of any process issues or product exceptions.
    • Coordination of shift handover with incoming & outgoing Operators.

     

    Qualifications

     Position Qualifications:

    • 3-5 years managing technical and non-technical people in a R&D product development test or manufacturing environment.
    • 2 year’s experience in a Document Controlled and Quality Management System environment highly desirable.
    • Excellent organizational, communication (written & oral), supervisory, judgment and decision making skills.
    • Possesses acceptable knowledge & understanding of DET testing processes.
    • Must be computer literate.  Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook.
    • Team Player with strong Leadership attributes.  Ability to work with others & maintain positive attitude.
    • Able to multi-task and prioritize workflows as demanded by the work requirements.
    • Accurate & detailed oriented on repetitive tasks.  Attention to detail.
    • Basic math skills using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions & decimals.
    • Must be punctual and dependable.
    • Willingness to work a compressed work week or in different shifts. Overtime may be required. This position will be required to work outside of normal office hours.

     

    Education & Experience Required + Job Scoping:

    • Education: High school diploma or GED (General Educational Development) + some post-secondary education in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) field is required.  2-3 year diploma in a STEM or general management field is preferred.
    • Work Experience: Minimum 12 months’ work experience as an Escalation Tech-III, which can be waived dependent on prior work experience, skillset, educational qualifications and industry standard certifications.
    • Job Scoping: Shift Lead, fulfills the minimum expectations of this position.  Escalation Tech-III is the trainee level for the Shift Lead position.
