Overview

We are looking for an experienced Automation Test Engineer to join our team in Boise to support one of our largest clients in the area - Hewlett Packard. This is a full-time, long term benefited position with competitive compensation. In this role you will have the opportunity to own and maintain automated test scrips and be responsible for updating and adding tests to cover any test gaps or escapes. As the only test engineer on the small team, you will be the subject matter expert working closely with the development engineers on the team.

Responsibilities

  • Write and maintain automated tests for new and existing features using Python.
  • Review and discuss feature designs with the developers and contribute to solution quality while taking into account program and feature objectives.
  • Design and build unit test setups, as needed.
  • Triage issues and work with other test or development engineers to fix. This may require perusing C/C++ code.
  • Lead and drive test engineering in the team.
  • Lead the investigation of test failures to determine if a failure is a product defect, a test defect, or a process problem. Characterize product defects to determine how to reproduce and fix them.
  • Work with other teams, including operations and manufacturing teams, on issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or similar
  • Minimum 3 years of Python scripting experience and strong experience in creating automated tests
  • Minimum 3 years of test development and software development experience
  • Familiarity with Wireless (WEP, WPA, WPA2), Bluetooth, and Networking protocols and concepts (Wireshark preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with routers/switches and network setup methods and processes preferred
  • Experience with testing methodologies, metrics, and defect-tracking systems (ALM)
  • Familiarity with firmware development and understanding of C/C++ language a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks and priorities in a matrix environment to meet schedule and deliverables
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
  • Hardware experience is a plus
